Enhancing Women’s Political Representation through improved capacity and enhanced support in Moldova (Women in Politics) program invites interested organizations/companies to apply on the following:

 Summary of the Request:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.

In 2014, UN Women jointly with UNDP and in partnership with the East Europe Foundation (EEF) and the Centre for Participatory Development (CPD) started a new programme in Moldova: “Enhancing Women’s Political Representation through improved capacity and enhanced support in Moldova” (Women in Politics), is implemented with the financial support offered by the Government of Sweden.

The programme purpose is to support gender equality advocates in creating a favourable environment for advancing women’s right to participate in decision making at national and local levels by influencing legal frameworks and policies to increase women’s leadership and political participation.

 In order to implement the activities envisaged in the Women in Politics Program related to building and enhancing the capacity of women to run for elections, it is planning to organise trainings and capacity building activities for candidates and prospective candidates before and during elections and for elected officials after parliamentary or/and local elections. In this context the program is creating a roster of organizations/companies with expertise in building and enhancing the capacity of candidates to run for elections. Consequently organisations/companies with relevant expertise are invited to fill in the table below (check-list) for registering in the roster of organisations/companies.

Women in Politics Program reserves the right to further contact the relevant organisations/ companies to apply for carrying out trainings and capacity building activities for candidates and prospective candidates before and during elections and for elected officials after elections.

The aim of this Request for Expression of Interest is to develop a comprehensive list of organizations/companies with relevant expertise in building and enhancing the capacity of candidates, prospective candidates for parliamentary and/or local elections and elected officials. 

The applying organizations shall fill in the check-list of mapping of organizations/companies with expertise in building and enhancing the capacity of women and men to participate in the electoral process.
