Background

Objective

The UNDP Moldova offers for outstanding graduate-level students the opportunity to acquire working experience with UNDP. The internship programme provides the successful candidates with in-depth knowledge and understanding of UNDP’s goals, principles and activities, as well as experience in multi-tasking and teamwork. 

Scope of work

Main responsibilities:

  1. Logistical support to the Projects’ Implementing Unit (40% of the available time) – in particular logistical support in the organization of various Project related meetings, boards and similar; translation or adaptation of Project related documentation, analytical reports, short policy papers and similar; selective translation of various materials from/to English and Romanian;
  2. Undertake analytical activities (35%) –  in particular this would imply drafting of analytical notes, basic analytical and statistical research;
  3. Support to the project team in the communication and visibility activities (20%) –  in particular this implies drafting of press-releases, short success stories for the various projects in the Implementing Unit; undertaking short visits to collect data and draft reports.
  4. Learning (5%) – the intern will participate to training activities taking place in selective projects in the Implementing Unit and will have access to selective on-line courses provided by UNDP to its staff;

Requirements for experience

Interns are selected on a competitive basis. It is required to have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution and be enrolled in a Master programme.

 Education: University degree in Social sciences.

 Experience: Some experience with the implementation of projects in the social or economic fields would be a strong asset.

Language Requirements: written and spoken proficiency in English, knowledge of Romanian or Russian is an asset.

 Financial issues
UNDP Moldova does not provide financial support to interns. The costs associated with the internship must be borne by any sponsoring institutions or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and will have to make his/her own arrangements for accommodation, travel, etc.

 Health and Medical Insurance
UNDP accepts no responsibility for the medical and life insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship.
Applicants for internship must therefore carry adequate and regular medical and life insurance. 
Proof of medical coverage/visa must be provided before the internship starts.

Documents to be included

Application process

Applicants should send the following documents before their arrival to Moldova:

  • completed UNDP Internship application form;
  • copy of the CV;
  • letter from his University confirming current enrolment and graduation date;
  • a copy of his/her school transcript;
  • a letter of endorsement from a senior faculty member who has directly supervised the student in the recent past and who is fully acquainted with the student's performance;
  • a motivation letter setting out the reasons why he/she is seeking an internship with UNDP and what is expected from the experience.

Before starting the Internship, interns should submit:

  • signed UNDP “Internship Agreement” form;
  • confirmed and signed copy of “Medical Certificate of good health” from a recognized physician;
  • proof of medical insurance valid for the Republic of Moldova;
  • proof of life/accident insurance valid for the Republic of Moldova.
