The EU-NGOs Project “Strengthening Environmental Governance by Building the Capacity of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)” is a global project funded by the European Union (EU), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to promote sustainable development and improved environmental management in target countries from two neighboring regions of the European Region through more effective civil society participation in environmental governance.

The Project EU-NGO will focus primarily on strengthening the external and internal capacities of NGOs and developing professional skills for environmental governance. It will do so by providing small grants to several NGO-led projects to improve NGOs’ capacities to participate in an informed and skilled manner in environmental policy formulation and natural resource management, collaborate in decision-making on key issues, and represent the interests of citizens and communities in environment and sustainable development discussions and debates. By promoting coordination and knowledge exchange among NGOs and other partners the project aims to have a wider influence on civil society capacity to engage with governments in the tasks and activities of environmental governance.

The project selection process for the EU-NGOs Project is a competitive process, open to all national NGOs. Consideration will be given to legally registered national NGOs which have an environmental track record or a strong interest in environmental policy in relation to their mission.

Proiectul UE - ONG-uri: “Consolidarea guvernanței în domeniul mediului prin dezvoltarea capacităților organizațiilor neguvernamentale (ONG-uri)” este un proiect global finanțat de Uniunea Europeană (UE) şi implementat de Programul Naţiunilor Unite pentru Dezvoltare (PNUD). Proiectul urmăreşte dezvoltarea durabilă şi îmbunătăţirea managementului mediului în printr-o participare mai eficientă a societăţii civile în gestionarea problemelor de mediu.

Proiectul UE - ONG-uri va fi axat în primul rând pe consolidarea capacităţilor externe şi interne ale ONG-lor şi creşterea capacităţilor profesionale în gestionarea aspectelor de mediu. Modalitatea de implementare va consta în acordarea de granturi mici ONG-urilor pentru consolidarea capacităţilor acestora de a participa la elaborarea politicilor de mediu şi gestionare a resurselor naturale într-un mod informat şi posedând aptitudinile necesare, de a colabora în procesul decizional privitor la problemele-cheie ale domeniului şi să reprezinte interesele cetăţenilor şi comunităţilor în discuţii şi dezbateri pe marginea aspectelor de mediu şi dezvoltare durabilă. Prin promovarea coordonării și schimbului de cunoștințe dintre ONG-uri și alți parteneri, proiectul își propune să sporească capacitățile societății civile de a se implica activ în procesul de luare a deciziilor și in activitățile de gestionare a mediului.

Procesul de selectare pentru Proiectul UE-ONG-uri este un proces competitiv, deschis pentru toate ONG-urile naționale. Vor fi considerate drept eligibile organizațiile neguvernamentale naționale, misiunea cărora are atribuție la mediu și care au experiență anterioară în domeniul mediului sau un interes sporit pentru politici în domeniul mediului.
