The project aims at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) in the process of achieving its European Integration goals and commitments.

Objectives: |
- Build institutional capacity of the MFAEI as part of the public administration reform process;
- Develop capacities of the MFAEI and the Negotiation Team (comprising of representatives from different Moldovan public institutions) for European Integration, with immediate focus on negotiating of the Association Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova and implicitly its implementation;
- Strengthen political and operational capacity to increase the impact of Moldova’s participation in regional cooperation processes on its social and economic development;
- Develop the capacity of the Media and Public Relations Department to better communicate internally and externally its priorities, activities and results.

Benefits expected: |
- Greater staff motivation, streamlined procedures and improved infrastructure will make MFAEI more open to the public, better able to provide cost-effective services to its clients, and overall will contribute to strengthening the country’s foreign relations policies.
- The Call Center is providing consular information to Moldovan citizens in the country or abroad, and foreign citizens. Currently, the Call Center is providing information and advice to more than 35 visitors per day.
- Wider involvement and ownership of regional cooperation, values and objectives by national institutions will bring Moldovan standards in all areas of development closer to European principles and values;
- Greater awareness among media and general public about benefits of European integration for Moldova.

Public

The development of an efficient internal and external communication system is crucial for the success of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. The project will provide training to the Media and Public Relations Department to help the Ministry communicate with partners and the public at large in a transparent and open manner (various publications, regular update of the website, media briefings, etc.). Particular attention is paid to raising awareness about the benefits, opportunities and responsibilities of the European integration process for Moldova.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has a key role to play in the process of Moldova’s European integration. The success of this very important goal for the country will depend on the sound policies and programmes promoted by the Ministry to bring the country closer to European standards. Ultimately, benefits of this project are to be shared by the Government and civil society. |
