Protection and Empowerment of Victims of Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence in Moldova

The main goal of the project is to increase equitable and guaranteed access to basic services of good quality for the at-risk persons exposed to human trafficking and domestic violence.

Objectives: |
- Strengthen the capacity of the Government, civil society and local communities to prevent and better address the human security issues of human trafficking and domestic violence;
- Provide qualitative comprehensive services (medical, psychological, social, legal, etc.) necessary to identify, protect and assist victims of human trafficking and domestic violence and persons at risk.

Benefits expected: |
- Improved identification, protection, and assistance to victims of human trafficking and domestic violence;
- The National Referral System further developed and expanded in at least 5 districts;
- Institutions, professional groups, and civil society at national, district and local levels better able to prevent and address the social problems of human trafficking and domestic violence, to identify and provide integrated support to victims of human trafficking and domestic violence and persons at risk;
- 30 target communities (5 towns and 25 villages) mobilized to address human security issues of human trafficking and domestic violence.
- Immediate assistance in crisis situations (safe accommodation, medical care, psychological counseling, etc.) and long-term reintegration services through the National Referral System provided to 800 adult victims and 150 mother and child victims or at risk of human trafficking, and 300 women victims or at risk of domestic violence and their families.

Public
awareness: |
Communication activities represent an important part of the project and include media and awareness campaigns, public events, printed materials, disseminating information through professionals and community opinion leaders, promotion of anti-trafficking hot-line, domestic violence trust-line and community-based social services. Community mobilization will be carried out through working with professionals, local authorities, and civil society to create services for victims, conduct awareness raising and prevention activities, among many others.
