Study visit to Constituency Office in Romania

CHISINAU — June 30, 2011 -- UNDP’s Parliamentary Project facilitated a study visit of the Secretary General and the Director of the Parliament’s Legal Department to a Constituency Office in the city of Iasi (Romania). Aim of the visit was to introduce the Romanian practices on how to structure and organize regular contacts between Members of Parliament and the citizens at local level. During the visit the delegation visited the office of a Senator and had discussions with other Members of Parliament, from both ruling parties and the opposition and with staffers working in the Constituency Office. The delegation had also meetings with the Mayor and Prefect of Iasi, both shared their experience regarding the cooperation between Parliament constituency Offices and local public administration authorities.
