UNDP helps the Parliament of Moldova in More Efficient Management of its Budget

CHISINAU July 4, 2011 -- UNDP Parliamentary Support Project organized a one-day workshop for the staffers of the Moldovan Parliament on the parliamentary budget development. During the workshop, experiences were exchanged with experts from the Parliaments of Estonia and Slovenia. Main topics of discussion included the procedure of budget preparation, the budget cycle, division of responsibilities within the Parliament, budget auditing, monitoring of budget implementation and cooperation between Parliament and Government.

Besides the experts from Estonia and Slovenia, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Court of Accounts of Moldova took part in the workshop.

The Support to Parliamentary Development in Moldova project is a four-year project funded by the Government of Denmark (DANIDA), Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and implemented and co-funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
