First National Roundtable on MDG 6 Acceleration Framework

Chisinau, December 9, 2011 – A joint UNDP, WHO and Ministry of Health initiative to accelerate the progress towards the achievement of targets set under MDG 6 has been discussed during the First MDG6 Acceleration Framework Roundtable organized in Chisinau on December 9, 2011. The main goal of the event was to disseminate the concept of MDG Acceleration Framework (MAF), present the current progress under MDG 6, and discuss the existing core problems and obstacles, as well as initiate discussions over the qualitative survey to be conducted at national level to ensure acceleration. The Roundtable has been attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, relevant NGOs active in the field, donors. The MAF intervention in Moldova is planned for the period December 2011 – March 2012 and will finalize with the development of the MAF Action Plan which will provide feasible and timely recommendations on specific solutions to accelerate progress in achieving MDG6 targets by 2015.
