July 28, 2011, Chisinau -Between July 28-31, 2011, 25 representatives of the nongovernmental organizations from Moldova are taking part in a training workshop organized by the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme (JILDP).

Named “Community mobilization for empowerment”, the training course for trainers is focused on the main components of the community development process and provides to participants the models and tools of community mobilization for empowerment. Within the training, moderated by national and international trainers, participants will finalize the concepts of empowerment, vulnerability, human rights based approach and gender equality; will discuss about the community mobilization cycle and the role of key actors in implementation, monitoring and assessment of the mobilization actions. Afterwards, participants will implement the best practices gathered within the training in all 60 villages and 10 cities targeted by the Programme throughout the country and will facilitate the strategic planning process in terms of human rights based approach and gender equality in these localities.

The training course for trainers „Community mobilization for empowerment” is a continuation of the activities initiated by the Joint Integrated Local Development Programme to strengthen the capacity of the local government in the context of the decentralization reform. We remind that during July 6-12, 2011, JILDP organized a workshop for trainers to develop civil society capacity in strategic planning through the human rights and gender equality approach..

The Joint Integrated Local Development Programme is implemented with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and with the financial support of the Swedish Government. The JILDP development objective is to assist the Republic of Moldova to ensure that vulnerable groups from poor urban and rural areas benefit from opportunities of sustainable socio-economic development through appropriate local and regional policies implemented by local governments and their partners in a gender sensitive manner and based on human rights.
