Moldovan Public Servants are trained on the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement

Chisinau, May 16-20, 2011 – 42 public servants from the Government and Parliament of Moldova were trained through the programme “Implementation on the new Moldova – EU Association Agreement” organized by UNDP’s project to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

This was the first out of five training modules for public servants on the implementation of the new Moldova - EU Association Agreement to take place throughout 2011. The purpose of the training modules is to help Moldovan administration build its administrative capacities to prepare for the Association Agreement implementation and for all the challenges on its way towards the European Union.

During these 5 workshops, the Moldovan civil servants will get acquainted with issues pertaining to legal approximation, regulatory impact assessment, energy, environment, costumer protection, personal data protection, social and transport policies, as well as project cycle management and EU after Lisbon Treaty.

“The implementation of an EU Association Agreement is a first step towards legal harmonization and approximation not only of laws but of all the elements accounting for European integration of a country. The UN has embarked on developing the next cooperation framework with the Government where particular attention is given to the complementarity of its assistance to the Government and EU cooperation”, said  Matilda Dimovska, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative at the official opening of the training programme. “We will aim as usually to help Moldovan people, the society, the state and non-state actors in building a prosperous country with respect for rule of law and human rights”, she said.
