UNDP supports the implementation of the EU food safety standards in Moldova

Chisinau, May 16, 2011 - UNDP’s project “Building Institutional Capacity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration” helped the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) prepare a package of hygiene actions to be taken by Moldova to comply with EU acquis in food safety areas such as fish, meat, poultry and dairy products. This assistance comes to support the implementation of the Action Plan for the negotiations of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union later this year.
Four international consultants worked closely with the Sanitary Veterinary Agency within the MAFI to prepare the assessment of the food industry sectors and organized trainings for the veterinary services and inspectors at the central and rayon level.
