EUBAM hands over computer equipment and books to the National Border Guard College of Moldova
Ungheni, 29 May 2011 - Today, the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) handed over computer equipment and books to the National Border Guard College of Moldova to support students’ learning of foreign languages.
The donation includes study materials, computers and headsets, among other types of equipment, which will greatly enhance the Border Guard students’ learning environment and will enable them to study foreign languages.
The handover ceremony also saw the establishment of a new foreign languages classroom within the Border Guard College, thanks to EUBAM support. The symbolic delivery of the donation was carried out in this new classroom by the EUBAM Liaison Officer and Border/Police Advisor, Mr Konstantins Sarigins.
The Director General of the Border Guard Service of the Republic of Moldova, Mr Roman Revenco, expressed his deep gratitude towards EUBAM for its continuous support to the Border Guard Service and to the College in particular. He said: “I would like to thank the European Commission and especially EUBAM for all the support and understanding that you show for the Border Guard Service for the last five years. This new classroom will enable the border guards to learn foreign languages and will greatly enhance both their knowledge and image”.
In addition to enhancing the students’ learning environment, EUBAM has invested considerable time in a whole range of training events, in order to build the capacity of the MDBGS and an ever increasing number of staff from the MDBGS have benefited from such training. The training has focused on areas such as leadership and management, examination and identification techniques, and public communication.
