New jobs for vulnerable youth

Chisinau, May 16, 2011 -"Better Opportunities for Women and Youth” Project has signed a grant agreement with five private companies to create jobs for vulnerable youth, especially graduates of boarding or professional schools - orphaned or deprived of parental care. These private companies were selected from among 22 participants, who took part in an open business plan competition, conducted by the project at the end of last year. According to this agreement, during this year the companies will create 47 new jobs for vulnerable young people aged between 16 and 30 years, benefiting in this respect of Grants ranging from 3000 up to U.S.$ 15,000.

"Better Opportunities for Women and Youth" Project is implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova, with financial support provided by the Romania Government and "Emergency Fund", an international program created by George Soros in the summer of 2009 to mitigate the adverse effects of global economic crisis in Central, Eastern, South-Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
