PEOPLE FROM COUNRYSIDE WILL LEARN HOW TO MANAGE EFFICIENTLY THEIR MONEYChişinău, 13 May 2010 – The economic crisis from Moldova highlighted several social problems existent in rural areas, associated to money handling by households. The fall in the flow of remittances, the heavy burden of requested banking credits, current and future needs for family supporting – all are tightly connected to over-running into debts, non-planning of personal and family costs and income, lack of financial means for urgent needs, etc. In this context, the Rural Development Center has recently launched a cycle of seminars on rural households’ financial education, meant to assist in solving all problems associated to money handling. The program is financially supported by the EC-UN Joint Migration and Development Initiative. During the concerned seminars, which are to be unfolded throughout the years 2010-2011, the village people will learn how to plan family costs and income, document themselves about instruments to control available means, and households’ capacity to make savings, invest and serve credits. The project goal is to help inform the population, namely from rural areas, about modalities of handling financial means and prevent such severe social phenomena as over-running into debts and poverty are. The training seminars are locally supported by loan and savings associations and local public authorities. The audience likely to attend the training is expected to amount to 1300 persons from about 65 rural localities.
