UNDP Moldova is the partner in Moldova Business Week 2010 organization

Chisinau, June 21-25 – Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Moldova, Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO), in cooperation with Vienna Economic Forum are organizing  Moldova Business Week 2010. UNDP is the partner of the event and is supporting it within the framework of Improved Capacities for Managing Development Project.

Moldova Business Week 2010 takes place at the Republican Palace, between 22 and 25 June 2010, and is expected to host a number of 600 representatives  from the public central administration of the Republic of Moldova, international, regional and local banks, investment funds, international financial organizations, investment promotion agencies, foreign donors, foreign and local investors, foreign Embassies accredited to the Republic of Moldova, local companies and holders of investment projects, international experts, foreign and local media.

The main purpose of Moldova Business Week 2010 is to increase investment flows in the Republic of Moldova by drawing attention of foreign investors to the Republic of Moldova as a favorable investment destination, to facilitate dialogue between investors and local companies, to identify and promote future investment projects and to focus investors’ attention on specific sectors of national economy. It will also include B2B meetings of economic entities from Romania, Italy, Russian Federation, Turkey, Czech Republic, Poland and other countries that invest or are interested to invest in the Republic of Moldova.

“This week’s event is both pertinent and timely as Moldova engages in key economic reforms to address the impact of the economic crisis and to pave the way for sustainable growth and development. The country is already seeing positive signs of recovery since late 2009 and there is critical need for consolidating all local available resources, mobilizing all stakeholders and particularly for more involvement of the private sector in addressing the socio-economic challenges.”stated Ms. Matilda Dimovska, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative at the opening of the plenary session.

Improved Capacities for Managing Development Project is designed to support the national development priorities of the Republic of Moldova through capacity building in the formulation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of development policies and programmes, and through strengthening the national capacity to mobilize donor resources for their implementation. One of Project’s objectives is supporting communication related events in view of not only promoting advocacy on behalf of UNDP, but most importantly, in contributing to raising the visibility of Moldova to the external world and eventually attract the much needed investment flows in the country.
