Project Manager – NIJ Project

Background:

This project aims at supporting the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in strengthening the institutional capacity to perform its legal functions in a more transparent and efficient manner, thereby increasing the education, training and competency of judges, prosecutors and other justice representatives resulting in their capacity to make fair, just and equitable decisions and ensure access to justice.

Summary of key functions:

  • Project Management:
    • Assume full responsibility for and manage effectively and efficiently all project activities and resources in order to meet expected results;
    • Develop annual activity and procurement work plans as well as budgets based on expected year-end outputs; ensure close monitoring of activities and disbursements;
    • Apply UNDP programming tools and policies;
    • Prepare qualitative work plans and substantive and financial progress reports;
    • Ensure wide dissemination and visibility of project achievements;
    • Maintain close coordination with project partners, ensure synergies, avoid overlaps in project implementation, collaborate with other donors working in the same area, and provide relevant project information.
  • Resource Mobilization and Partnership Building;
  • Support to the CO Programme and overall coordination;
  • Knowledge Management:  Ensure wide dissemination, promotes UNDP goals and values and ensures visibility of programme/project achievements at the national/local level, as well as regional.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • University/Master Degree in Law, Human Rights, Political Science or other related areas;
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience is required at the national or international level in the management or development of legal programmes;
  • Extensive knowledge of judicial training specifics;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems;
  • Fluency in both oral and written English and Romanian is a must. Knowledge of Russian desired;
  • References are required.
