Background
The “Strengthening the National Statistical System” project is aimed to contribute for achieving the general outcome of pro-poor policies, addressing development and population issues, which are formulated, implemented, and monitored in a more transparent and participatory manner. The overall expected result of the Joint Project is to improve data collection, dissemination and use of statistical information with particular attention to national needs and official statistics overall conformity with international standards.
Tasks and responsibilities
The national consultant will review and evaluate the statistical infrastructure and assist the National Bureau of Statistics to elaborate a coherent system of collection, production and dissemination of statistical data and indicators in the field of justice and criminality.
Qualifications and skills required:
- University degree in statistics, economics, law, other social sciences;
- Knowledge and understanding of the national law system;
- Knowledge and understanding of the national statistical system, especially of criminality statistics would be an advantage;
- Relevant experience in collection and producing of statistical indicators;
- Necessary abilities for team-work;
- Good analytical and writing skills;
- Knowledge of international standards and regulations in criminality statistics would be an advantage;
- Awareness about gender statistics and an understanding of UNIFEM mandate would be an advantage;
- Fluency in Romanian. Knowledge of English would be an advantage.
