UN Coordination Officer
Vacancy Number: 35/Pr-2008
Background:
On behalf of the UN Country Team, ensure the implementation of various initiatives of the Resident Coordinator system, set operational priorities, make necessary arrangements, and ensure effective and timely follow-up and feedback. Develop specific proposals/concept notes/project documents for various collaborative activities/capacity building initiatives.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Facilitate and participate in the preparation of the system-wide strategic documents such as CCA and UNDAF and all their updates;
- Facilitate, provide advice to and participate in the activities of various inter-agency thematic working groups and various task forces;
- Ensure effective promotion of UN activities, values, messages in close consultation with the information/communication focal points of the UN system;
- Support the UN Country Team and the Resident Coordinator in engaging bilateral and multilateral institutions, including support for resource mobilization.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences or related field.
- 2 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing management advisory services, hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects. Knowledge about the UN and RC systems would be an advantage.
- Excellent managerial, communication and analytical skills, initiative and creativity.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English are essential; proven ability to read, write and speak in Romanian and Russian.
