Short-term vacancy under SSA modality - Examining and Evaluating the applications within the Small Grants Program (SGP) – 2007; selecting the organizations to be funded within the SGP - “Support to the Implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan in the Republic of Moldova”Project

Background: Since 2004, UNDP Moldova, in partnership with the Standing Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights, is implementing the Project “Support to the implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan in the Republic of Moldova”. The Project supports the Government of Moldova in the implementation and monitoring of the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) for 2004-2008 thus, contributing to the establishment of a consistent and transparent system of monitoring the human rights situation in Moldova. Developing capacities necessary for a better observance of HR at national and local levels through conducting specialized training programs targeting different audiences, including NGOs representatives, is among the priority activities of the Project. Acknowledging the important role of NGOs in a democratic society, the Project will continue, by implementing the Small Grants Program – 2007, to support the efforts of NGOs that advocate for the promotion of human rights and democratic values in the Republic of Moldova. The aim of the SGP-2007 is to financially support human rights NGOs in order to develop necessary abilities and skills for monitoring, promotion and protection of human rights, and thus to contribute to the implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan in the Republic of Moldova.

Duties and responsibilities:  In order to achieve objectives the contractors will:

  • Examine relevant documents (The Communication Strategy, SGP Concept, AGP Applicant’s Guide etc.);
  • Participate in all working meetings of the team of consultants, organized by the project;
  • Examine and evaluate the application files;
  • Complete Evaluation forms for every applicant;
  • Develop the list of examined applications.

Qualifications:
Education: University degree in law, social sciences, political sciences or other relevant field.
Experience:

  • At least 5 years experience in coordination and administration of projects within a NGO or an international organization;
  • Knowledge about NGOs development in Moldova;
  • Knowledge of the role, tasks and specifics of the functioning of the human rights active NGOs;
  • Knowledge of human rights development in the Republic of Moldova;
  • Work experience with UN Agencies and/or international organizations;

Skills:

  • Ability to analyze, generalize and evaluate;
  • Ability to formulate the ideas both orally and in written;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Developed skills in communication with different categories of people;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of the state language and Russian. Knowledge of English is an asset.
