THE EUROPEAN UNION IS FINANCING A PROJECT ON REDUCTION OF
ILLEGAL
MIGRATION AND TRAFFIC WITH DRUGS IN AND THROUGH THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA
TO EU MEMBER COUNTRIES
The first action in the frames of the "Enhancing Border Control Management Programme
" regarding aspects of training on EU matters. was
launched on Thursday, May 26. In the action will be presented general
information about creation and enlargement of the EU, EU relations with
the Republic of Moldova, the Schengen Agreement cooperation
with the EU
in the field of Justice and Internal Affairs, including frontier control
management and securing of frontiers, etc., AP FLUX informs, citing a
press statement from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Office to
Moldova.
According to the cited source, the action is a preliminary stage in the specialized
training programs, which will follow during this year, and is organized by the
Public Policies Institute and European Information and Training Association.
The European Union and UNDP to Moldova launched, in February of this year, the
Project for Consolidation of Frontier Control Management, which aims at
substantial reduction of illegal migration and traffic with drugs in and
through the Republic of Moldova to EU member countries, as well as for overnmental structures to get acquainted with responsibilities
at the rontier with EU standards in the field.
The project, with a budget of 1 million 942 thousand 500 euro, is
financed by the European Union, co-financed and implemented by the United
Nations Development Program to Moldova.
The main beneficiary of the project is the Frontier Service. The project
cooperates with the European Commission, International Migration Organization,
USA Government, Customs Service, Migration Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs
and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration from the Republic of Moldova, AP
FLUX also informs.
