United Nations in Moldova
In Moldova, UNDP's Resident Representative (RR) also serves as the Resident Coordinator (RC) for the United Nations system in the country. As the designated representative of the Secretary-General and team leader of United Nations System Agencies, the Resident Coordinator assumes the overall responsibility for, and the coordination of the operational activities for the development of the UN System at the country level. The Resident Coordinator system encompasses all organizations of the United Nations system dealing with development, regardless of their formal presence in the country, and is funded and managed by UNDP. Apart from supporting the Resident Coordinator system, the UNDP country
office in Moldova represents some other UN agencies without a formal
presence in the country. In addition, it provides central administrative
support to a number of UN agencies with limited presence. UNDP in Moldova seeks to achieve greater unity of purpose and coherence of effort together with various members of the UN family in responding to the needs of the country and its people as well as to ensure the most effective use of the UN and international aid resources.
